Carlon LT43F-NEW – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the LT43F fitting work with metal flexible conduit or only Carflex?
It's built for Carflex liquidtight flexible non-metallic conduit. The sealing gland is sized to that jacket, so pairing it with metallic liquidtight (LFMC) is the wrong combination, use a metallic liquidtight connector there instead.
2) Is the Carlon LT43F fitting metal or plastic?
Non-metallic throughout. That's the reason people spec it over a die-cast or steel liquidtight connector: nothing to corrode in wash-down areas, coastal exposure, or around chemicals. It does mean the fitting itself carries no equipment ground, so your grounding conductor has to be pulled in the raceway.
3) What is the difference between Carlon LT43F-NEW and LT43FU?
Both are the 1 inch non-metallic straight Carflex liquidtight fitting; they are two catalog designations of the same part. Order by whichever number is on your submittal or purchase spec. LT43F-NEW carries UPC 034481194187, LT43FU carries 034481175339.
4) Can this Carlon liquidtight fitting be used outdoors or in a wet location?
Yes, that's what the liquidtight seal is for. The fitting blocks moisture and liquid from entering at the box connection, which is why it shows up on outdoor runs, wash-down areas, and other moisture-prone spots. Non-metallic body means no rust at the termination.
5) Do I need a sealing locknut or gasket with this Carflex connector, or does it come complete?
The fitting is supplied as the connector body with its sealing components for the conduit side. On the enclosure side, plan on a locknut at the knockout and, where the box connection itself has to stay watertight, a sealing washer or gasket. Order those separately if your enclosure rating calls for them.
