Carlon CPX00N Circuit Safe Pushbutton Enclosure, Thermoplastic

The Carlon CPX00N Circuit Safe Pushbutton Enclosure delivers reliable protection for electrical control applications with durable thermoplastic construction and UL listing (UL E108856) for professional installations. This purpose-built enclosure provides secure housing for pushbutton controls and related components in commercial and industrial environments, whether mounted on a control panel, machine enclosure, or process line. Built to the UL E108856 standard, the Circuit Safe design gives electricians and facility teams a code-compliant option for control circuit protection in demanding settings. The thermoplastic housing is engineered to resist the environmental stresses common on plant floors and commercial job sites, helping the enclosure maintain its protective function over the life of the installation. As part of Carlon's Circuit Safe line, the CPX00N is purpose-built for pushbutton control applications, giving installers a dedicated housing option rather than a generic multi-purpose box. Facility teams specifying replacement or new-build enclosures benefit from a product engineered specifically around pushbutton stations rather than repurposed general-duty boxes, reducing fit and access issues during installation and maintenance. Because the enclosure is non-metallic, it also eliminates concerns around galvanic corrosion or the added weight that can come with steel or aluminum control boxes, making it easier to mount and service on lightweight panels and machine frames.

Key Features

Carlon CP100NB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the difference between the predrilled cover and the blank narrow cover on the Carlon Circuit Safe pushbutton enclosure?
The predrilled versions (CP100N, CP200N, CP300N) come with the cover already punched for 1, 2, or 3 pushbutton devices, so you mount your operators and you're done. The blank narrow cover versions (CP100NB and CP200NB) ship unpunched, which is what you want when your operator body doesn't match the standard punch, or when you want to lay out the openings yourself on the bench. Blank narrow covers are offered in the 1-hole and 2-hole body sizes; the 3-hole body comes with the predrilled cover.
2) How many pushbuttons or selector switches will a Carlon CP Series enclosure hold?
One, two, or three, depending on which body you order. CP100N and CP100NB are single-hole stations, CP200N and CP200NB take two devices, and CP300N takes three. Pick the count by the number of operators the control station needs (start/stop is two, start/stop/E-stop is three) rather than trying to gang smaller boxes.
3) Do the Carlon Circuit Safe pushbutton enclosures come with the buttons included?
No. CP100N through CP300N are the enclosure and cover only. You supply the pushbutton or selector switch operators and their contact blocks, and on the blank-cover versions (CP100NB, CP200NB) you also drill the cover to suit whatever operators you're using. Budget the operators into the order or the station arrives incomplete.
4) Can I use a plastic pushbutton enclosure instead of a metal one in a wash-down or corrosive area?
That is the main reason to reach for the Circuit Safe. The body is thermoplastic, so there is nothing in the enclosure itself to rust or to need a paint touch-up where a steel station would corrode, and the housing is non-conductive. Metal stations are the better call where the box takes physical abuse from forklifts or tooling, or where the spec calls for a metallic enclosure outright.
5) What is the Carlon CP100N, CP200N, and CP300N actually used for?
They are pushbutton control station housings: a small thermoplastic enclosure that holds start/stop buttons, selector switches, or an E-stop and the wiring behind them. Typical spots are machine controls, motor starters, HVAC control points, and building automation stations. It is the box and cover only, so the operators, contact blocks, and any conduit fittings are ordered separately.
6) Which Carlon pushbutton enclosure do I order for a start/stop station with an emergency stop?
The 3-hole CP300N. Start, stop, and E-stop is three operators, and the 3-hole body is the one punched for three. If the E-stop is on its own separate station, use a 1-hole CP100N for it and a 2-hole CP200N for the start/stop pair.
7) I'm standardizing control stations across a facility. Can I mix the Carlon CP sizes and keep the same look?
Yes. The 1-, 2-, and 3-hole Circuit Safe bodies are the same family in the same thermoplastic, so a run of CP100N, CP200N, and CP300N stations reads consistently across a plant while each opening gets only the device count it needs. Keeping to one family also means one spare cover style and one UL file (E108856) on your submittals.
