1) Can I use standard PVC conduit fittings with Carlon ENT, or do I need special ENT couplings?
Flex-Plus ENT is recognized for use with PVC rigid non-metallic conduit fittings in every ENT size, so the PVC fittings already on the truck work with the 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch tubing. That is the practical advantage over corrugated products that demand a proprietary connector for each size.
2) Is Carlon ENT allowed in a ceiling plenum?
No. Flex-Plus ENT is for use in walls, floors and non-plenum ceilings. If the ceiling cavity is used as an environmental air plenum, this tubing is not the raceway for that run; use a metallic raceway or another product listed for plenum spaces there. Everything below the plenum, in wall cavities and floor pours, is where ENT belongs.
3) Do the Carlon ENT coils come with fittings included?
No fittings are in the box. The stock coils are tubing only, so the couplings, connectors and box adapters get ordered separately, in PVC rigid non-metallic conduit fittings sized to the 1/2, 3/4 or 1 inch tubing you are buying. Count your box terminations and coupling points before the order goes in.
4) Why does Carlon ENT come in blue, red and yellow, and does the color change anything electrically?
Color is identification only. The tubing is the same non-metallic raceway in all three, so crews commonly assign one color per system, blue for power, red for fire alarm, yellow for data or controls, and an inspector or the next electrician can read the wall at a glance. All three colors are stocked in 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch.
5) Should I run ENT or rigid PVC conduit in a stud wall?
ENT is the faster choice inside stud bays and slab pours because it bends by hand around framing and takes offsets without heat or a bender, and it still lands on standard PVC rigid non-metallic fittings. Rigid PVC is what you want where the run is exposed and needs to hold a straight line or take mechanical abuse. Flex-Plus is a flexible raceway, so treat it as the concealed-work product, in walls, floors and non-plenum ceilings.
6) Will Carlon ENT corrode in a damp block wall or a garage slab?
The raceway is non-metallic, so there is no steel to rust and no galvanic reaction with rebar or masonry, and the tubing does not carry current the way a metal raceway can. That is the usual reason it gets specified for concrete pours, block walls and damp parking or utility areas over EMT.
7) Does Carlon Flex-Plus ENT carry a UL file number I can put on a submittal?
Yes, Flex-Plus ENT carries UL E73317, and that is the number to cite on a submittal or in an RFI when the spec asks for the listing on the raceway. It is also made in the United States, which matters when a public job carries a domestic sourcing requirement.
8) I need to match ENT already installed in my building. How do I order the exact same tubing?
Order by MPN and the match is exact. Blue runs 12005-200 in 1/2 inch, 12007-100 in 3/4 inch, 12008-100 in 1 inch. Red is 12005R-200, 12007R-100 and 12008R-100. Yellow is 12005Y-200, 12007Y-100 and 12008Y-100. The letter in the middle is the color and the leading digits are the size, so a coil already in the wall can usually be identified from its own print.
