1) Can the Carlon FN-18-OWV be installed in an existing finished wall, or does it need to go on a stud?
It's an old work box, meant for retrofit installs in existing walls with no framing modification. You cut the opening in the drywall and the box mounts to the wall material itself rather than fastening to a stud, which is what separates it from a new work box that nails to framing before the rock goes up.
2) Does this Carlon box have knockouts for conduit or metal-clad cable?
No knockouts on it. The FN-18-OWV has zero, which is consistent with a draft-tight non-metallic box: openings are cable entries with integral clamps, not punch-outs. If you're landing EMT or MC and need a threaded or knockout entry, this isn't the box for that run.
