Yes. The Carlon Snap Strap is molded from UV-inhibited PVC specifically for direct sunlight exposure, so it works on exterior runs, rooftop and solar racking feeds, and utility work as well as indoors. It's non-metallic, so there's nothing to rust on a wet wall or a coastal site.
2) What size conduit do Carlon Snap Straps fit?
Six trade sizes, split by mount style: single mount in 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch, and double mount in 1-1/4 inch, 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch. Pick the strap that matches the trade size of the conduit, not the measured outside diameter, since PVC conduit is designated by trade size.
3) Do these straps clamp the conduit tight, or let it move?
They let it move. The Snap Strap is a high-strength non-metallic clamp that allows the conduit to expand and contract freely, which eliminates the bow you get when PVC is pinned hard at every support and then heats up in the sun. Seat the pipe in the strap and check it can still slide lengthwise before you move on.
4) What is the difference between single mount and double mount Snap Straps?
It's the number of fastening points. Single mount straps anchor through one hole and cover the smaller sizes, 1/2 inch through 1 inch. No. The Snap Strap ships as the strap only, so you supply the fastener to suit the surface, masonry anchors into block or concrete, wood screws into framing or a fascia, self-drillers into steel. Order those separately with the straps.
