Klein Tools 60230 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How many towels come in the Klein Tools 60230 cooling towel pack, and what size are they?
Klein Tools 60230 is a 2-pack of PVA cooling towels, each one 13 by 29.5 inches (33 x 74.9 cm). That length wraps a neck with enough left over to drape over the shoulders or fold across the back of the neck under a hard hat. Two per pack means one in service and one in the bag, or one for each of a two-man crew.
2) How do you activate a PVA cooling towel and how long does it take?
Wet it through with clean water, then wring out the excess gently. The PVA material soaks and activates in under one minute, so you can charge it at a hose bib or cooler and be back on the job. When it warms up, re-wet and wring again; it is a multi-use towel, not single-use.
3) Can I clip a cooling towel to my tool belt or bag between uses?
Yes. The 60230 ships in a resealable bag with a carabiner, so the wet towel goes back in the bag rather than soaking your tool pouch, and the bag clips to a belt loop, bag strap, or harness D-ring.
4) Is the Klein cooling towel washable, and can it go in the dryer?
Machine or hand wash with a mild detergent is fine. Air dry only. Heat drying is not part of the care instructions for the PVA material, so keep it out of the dryer if you want it to keep reactivating.
5) Do I have to refrigerate or ice a PVA cooling towel for it to work?
No ice or refrigeration needed. Plain water is enough; once wet and wrung, the PVA towel feels cooler than the surrounding air through evaporation. That is what makes it usable in an attic, a mechanical room, or on a line crew truck where there is no cooler handy, just water.
6) How much does a Klein 60230 cooling towel weigh for carrying in a tool bag?
Dry, the pack weighs 4.7 oz (133 g), with a single towel listed at 0.293 lbs. Folded flat it runs about 0.7 inch thick in the bag, so it tucks into a pouch or a side pocket without taking up room you need for tools.
7) Is a cooling towel practical for crews working in attics and confined spaces?
That is the intended use. Klein lists electrical work in hot environments and confined spaces, HVAC work in attics and mechanical rooms, outdoor utility and line maintenance, and general heat stress management on the trades. At 13 by 29.5 inches it sits under a hard hat brim or around the neck without getting in the way of a harness.
8) What color are the Klein 60230 cooling towels, and are other colors offered?
Blue, with a polygon print. Model 60230 is the single configuration, so for a facility or fleet order every towel arrives the same color and everyone's kit matches.
