1) What is the difference between an LFIC mortise cylinder and a standard keyed mortise cylinder?
An LFIC (large format interchangeable core) housing lets you pull and swap the core with a control key while the lock stays in the door, so rekeying a tenant turnover or a lost key is a two minute job. A conventional fixed cylinder has to be pinned at the bench. The tradeoff is that the LFIC core is a separate keying decision on top of the housing.
