1) What does the Corbin Russwin ML2067 apartment function actually do at the door?
The ML2067 is the apartment/dormitory function. The latchbolt retracts by grip from either side unless the outside grip is locked, either by the toggle-action stop or by throwing the deadbolt. From inside, one turn of the grip pulls both the latchbolt and the deadbolt at once for egress, and the outside grip stays locked until it is released. That is what makes it the standard choice for a dwelling unit or dorm room entry: a resident can secure the door from inside without ever locking themselves in.
2) Will the ML2067 mortise lock fit a 1-3/4 inch door with a 2-3/4 inch backset?
That is exactly what it is built for. The ML2067 lockbody is a 1-3/4 inch (44mm) door standard with a 2-3/4 inch (70mm) backset, which is the normal commercial mortise pocket. The steel lockcase measures 5-7/8 x 4 x 15/16 inches, so the mortise pocket has to be cut to take it. Thicker doors are handled through optional door thickness offerings rather than the standard body.
3) Do I have to order the ML2067 handed, or can I flip it on site?
Order it and hand it in the field. The ML2067 uses Corbin Russwin's patented Quick Reversible latchbolt, so the handing is reversed without opening the lock case. 5) Can I use my existing keys and cylinders with a Corbin Russwin ML2067?
Yes on both counts. The ML2067 works with new or existing Corbin Russwin key systems, and the lock accepts most other manufacturers' cylinders, so a building already keyed on another brand's mortise cylinder can usually stay on that keyway. The Corbin Russwin standard cylinder is brass, 6-pin, L4 keyway, supplied 0-bitted so a locksmith can key it on site.
6) Will the ML2067 latch into the strike that is already in my frame?

The ML2067 as sold is a mechanical body, not electrified.
