Corbin Russwin ML20906-LL Fail Secure Electrified Mortise Lock Body with Outside Cylinder Override, Lever x Lever

Grade 1 Electrified Mortise Lock Body for High-Traffic Commercial Applications

The Corbin Russwin ML20906-LL is a fail secure electrified mortise lock body from the ML2000 Series, engineered for demanding commercial, institutional, industrial, and government environments. In fail secure operation, the latchbolt is retractable by grip from either side only when the lock is energized; when not energized, the outside grip is locked and the latchbolt may be retracted by key from the outside, while the inside grip remains always free. Constructed of heavy-gauge steel with a 1" stainless steel deadbolt and patented Quick Reversible latchbolt, this lockbody is rated for 1-3/4" (44mm) door thickness and carries a Grade 1 BHMA rating backed by UL cycle testing completed at 14.5 million cycles (Verification ID: V875753). The auxiliary latch deadlocks the latchbolt for added security, and the field-reversible handing eliminates the need for disassembly during installation.

Corbin Russwin ML20906-LL-626-SEC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is a fail secure electrified mortise lock?
A fail secure lock remains locked when power is lost. The ML20906 locks the outside grip when energized and unlocks when power is removed. This provides security during power outages but requires battery backup for emergency egress systems.
2) How does the outside cylinder override work?
The cylinder override allows mechanical key operation even when the lock is electrically energized. This provides backup access and administrative control independent of the electronic access control system.
3) What door preparations are required for this mortise lock?
Standard ANSI mortise preparation with 1" x 8" mortise pocket and 2-1/8" bore for cylinder. Verify door thickness compatibility and check manufacturer template for exact dimensions and electric wire routing.
4) What voltage does the ML20906 require?
Verify voltage requirements with manufacturer specifications before installation. Most Corbin Russwin electrified locks operate on 12VDC or 24VDC. Connect to appropriate power supply sized for the lock's current draw.
5) Can this lock be used on fire rated doors?
Check the lock's fire rating and listing compatibility with your door assembly. Fire rated installations require listed hardware and proper installation per manufacturer instructions and local fire codes.
6) How do I determine the correct handing for installation?
Stand on the outside of the door. If hinges are on the right, it's right hand. If hinges are on the left, it's left hand. This body-only unit allows field configuration for proper handing during installation.
7) What additional components are needed with this body-only lock?
You'll need appropriate trim, cylinders, and strikes sold separately. Select trim based on door thickness, desired function, and aesthetic requirements. Browse our Corbin Russwin selection for compatible components.
8) How do I wire the electrified function?
Route low voltage wiring through door and frame per manufacturer wiring diagram. Use proper gauge wire for voltage and distance. Connect to access control panel or switch following all electrical codes and manufacturer specifications.
9) What maintenance does this electrified lock require?
Check electrical connections periodically for corrosion or looseness. Test mechanical override operation monthly. Lubricate moving parts per manufacturer schedule. Monitor current draw to detect wear or binding issues.
10) Are there other ML209 series options available?
The ML209 series includes various electric functions, voltages, and configurations. Check our mortise locks category for alternative models and compatible Corbin Russwin electrified options.
11) Can this lock integrate with existing access control systems?
Most access control panels can operate this fail secure lock through relay outputs. Verify voltage compatibility and current requirements. Some systems may require interface modules for proper operation and monitoring.
