Metallics MDPBO1812 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a 1/8 x 1/2 pin work in a 1/8 inch drilled hole?
Yes. The 1/8 inch figure on the MDPBO1812 is the pin diameter, so it is sized for a 1/8 inch hole. The 1/2 inch is the usable length, which has to cover the full thickness of the parts being pinned plus enough stickout to secure it. If your stack-up is thicker than 1/2 inch, step up to a longer pin in the same 1/8 diameter.
2) Does the 100-piece pack of 1/8 x 1/2 pins come as one size only?
Yes, the pack is a single size. Every pin in the MDPBO1812 box is 1/8 x 1/2 in the ebony finish, so it is a one-size restock item for a truck bin or shop drawer rather than an assortment. If you need a second length, that is a separate part number.
3) What finish is on the Metallics MDPBO1812 pin?
Ebony finish. It is a dark black coating rather than bright zinc, which is what you want when the pin sits somewhere visible and you do not want a shiny fastener standing out against black hardware or dark trim.
