Metallics MRPK1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics MRPK1 a cotter pin kit or a roll pin kit?
It is catalogued both ways because the assortment is described as a cotter pin, 327 piece roll pin kit. Roll pins (spring pins) are rolled sheet steel pins driven into a bore for a friction fit; cotter pins pass through a drilled hole and are bent to retain a clevis or castle nut. If your job depends on one specific type only, buy that type in the size you need rather than relying on an assortment.
2) Can I order a single pin size from the Metallics MRPK1 instead of the whole assortment?
No. MRPK1 is offered as one kit only, with no size level options, so the 327 piece assortment is the single orderable configuration. Buyers who need one size in volume should order loose pins of that size instead of the kit.
3) Are the pins in the Metallics MRPK1 kit plated for corrosion resistance?
They are steel with a zinc finish, which gives basic corrosion resistance for indoor and protected applications. For sustained outdoor exposure or washdown areas, zinc plated steel is not the finish to specify.
