OATEY 5351 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size pipe and tubing does the Oatey 5351 Dearborn escutcheon fit?
The Oatey 5351 Dearborn flange is a 1/2 inch IPS escutcheon that fits 2 inch tubing. So the opening is sized to the 1/2 inch iron pipe size thread dimension, and the body covers up to 2 inch tube. If your riser is a different nominal size, this one will either bind or leave a gap, so match the 1/2 inch IPS call-out on the pipe you are trimming out.
2) Is the Oatey 5351 escutcheon metal or plastic?
Steel, with a chrome finish. That matters on exposed work in commercial restrooms and multi-family units where a plastic flange gets cracked or discolored; the chromed steel body holds up to cleaning and bumps better than a snap-on plastic plate.
3) What part number do I order for the Oatey Dearborn 1/2 inch IPS flange?
Order Oatey 5351. It is a single configuration, so there is no finish or size option to specify: one model, 1/2 inch IPS, chrome steel.
4) Will a chrome 1/2 inch IPS flange match the other exposed trim in my restrooms?
The 5351 is finished in chrome, so it reads the same as standard chrome supply stops, nipples, and p-trap trim. For a property manager standardizing exposed piping across units, ordering a single chrome escutcheon part number for every 1/2 inch IPS penetration keeps the look consistent and makes restocking simple.
5) Do I need any screws or set screws to install the Oatey 5351 flange?
The 5351 is an escutcheon flange only, intended to slip over the 1/2 inch IPS pipe and cover the wall or floor penetration. Nothing else is supplied with it, so if your application needs a set screw or caulking at the wall, plan on that separately. Each piece weighs about 0.033, so it is a light trim part, not a structural fitting.
