A dummy lever is a fixed pull. There's no latch, no spindle, no turning action. The Lashbrook dummy pair mounts a lever on each face of the door and serves as a grip or a visual match to functioning hardware elsewhere. Common uses: the inactive leaf of a double door, a closet or pantry door held shut by a ball catch or roller catch, or a false door panel. If you need the door to latch on its own, this is the wrong part and you want a passage lever instead.

No. A dummy has no latch and no cylinder, so it surface mounts to the door face with screws. That makes it the easy fix on a door with no prep at all, and it also means it will not cover an existing 2-1/8 inch bore if you're swapping out a real lockset. On a previously bored door you'd want a passage or privacy lever, not a dummy.

Projection is 2-3/8 inches off the face, and the lever measures 2.5625 inches in length. Worth checking in a tight corridor, against a door that swings back to a wall, or where a wire shelf or cabinet run sits close to the door in a closet, since a dummy is often used exactly in those spots.

Handing isn't a factor. A dummy doesn't rotate and has no latch to reverse, so the same pair goes on either swing. Orient each lever so the handle points the direction you want and drive the screws.

Delaney lists the Lashbrook as Grade 2 and classifies it as residential. Grade 2 is the mid-tier ANSI/BHMA cylindrical lock classification, above residential Grade 3 and below the Grade 1 used on heavy commercial openings. That makes it reasonable for multi-family unit interiors and light commercial back-of-house, but for a high-traffic public opening on a spec that calls for Grade 1, this isn't the lever to submit.

That's one of its main jobs. The inactive leaf is normally held by flush bolts top and bottom, so it needs a grip rather than a latch, and the double dummy puts a matching lever on both faces. Order the dummy in the same finish and the same Lashbrook lever style as the active leaf so the pair reads as one set.

It holds nothing. There's no latch in a dummy and no strike ships with it, so the door needs something else to stay shut. On a closet that usually means a magnetic catch, roller catch, or ball catch in the head or jamb, ordered separately. On an inactive door leaf it means flush bolts. Budget that hardware into the job.
