Deltana TK3381 Egg Knob Trimkit

The TK3381 is a trim kit: the egg-shaped knobs and the roses that dress both faces of the door. It's a non-locking interior set, so there's no cylinder, no keyway, and no thumbturn. If you need privacy on a bath or bedroom, or a keyed entry, the TK3381 is the wrong choice. Reach for a Deltana privacy or entry knob set instead. The egg knob is offered across a range of functions, and the trimkit is the passage-style dress option in that family.

No handing to specify. The TK3381 egg knob is universal, so one part number works on a left or right hand door swinging either direction. Order the finish and nothing else.

Residential duty. Deltana lists the TK3381 as a residential product, which puts it on interior doors in houses, condos, and apartment units, not on a school corridor or a medical office. A property manager doing unit interiors can use it. For a commercial opening with cycle and grade requirements, specify a Grade 1 or Grade 2 cylindrical lockset instead.

That's what a trimkit is for. The TK3381 supplies the egg knobs and roses only, so you're re-dressing the faces of the door and leaving the bored prep and the existing latch in place. Two things decide whether it drops in: the cross bore in your door and the spindle and latch you already have need to match what the kit mounts to. If you're replacing a complete lockset rather than refreshing the trim, order a full knob set instead of a trimkit.

Six finishes, and all six are the same knob: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, Brushed Nickel, Antique Nickel, and Antique Brass. For a fleet of interior doors, the PVD polished brass is the one to ask about if the doors get heavy hand traffic, since PVD is a plated coating rather than a lacquer. Pick one finish and the knob is identical door to door, which is what you want when you're standardizing a building.

Knob if it's a private residence and you like the look; lever if anyone needs ADA-type operation or has limited grip. The TK3381 is a knob, and a round egg knob requires a twisting grip, which is why commercial and accessible openings generally get levers. On a house or an apartment interior the knob is fine and usually the cheaper finish-matched option. Clearance. Deltana has the TK3381 egg knob trimkit in its Residential Clearance collection, so treat it as a closeout run rather than a line you'll be able to re-order against for years. That matters if you're standardizing a building: buy the count you need for all the doors at once in a single finish, because matching it later on a clearance item is a gamble.

Steel and zinc. The TK3381 egg knob uses a steel and zinc substrate under the plated finish, which is the normal construction for a residential interior knob and heavier in the hand than a hollow stamped knob.
