1) What electrified options can I add to the Detex Advantex 40 Series exit device?
Four electrified builds are selectable when ordering: EA hardwired electric alarm, EX request to exit signal switch, EE delayed egress, and ER EX electric latch retraction with a request to exit switch. Choose EX if you only need to signal the access control panel that someone pushed the bar, ER EX if the panel has to pull the latch in for remote or scheduled free access, and EE where code permits a delayed egress stairwell or retail exit. There is also a None option for a straight mechanical device.
2) Should I order the 98 semi-mortise strike or the 99 surface strike with this Detex exit device?
Both strikes are offered on the Advantex 40. The 98 semi-mortise strike requires cutting the frame or mullion face so the strike sits partly recessed, which gives a flatter, cleaner look and is the usual choice on new frame prep. The 99 surface strike screws onto the face of the frame or mullion with no routing, which is what most retrofits use because it avoids field cutting an existing frame. Pick 99 if you are replacing hardware on a frame you do not want to machine.
3) Can the Detex Advantex 40 Series rim device be used on a pair of doors?
