Detex ECL-2425K – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Detex ECL-2425K part?
The ECL-2425K is a strike plate for double door exit device applications, sold as a genuine Detex replacement component. It is the latching surface the exit device latch engages, not the exit device itself. If you need the device, the rods, or the trim, those are separate parts.
2) Is the ECL-2425K strike for a single door or a pair of doors?
It is made for paired door openings. Detex specifies the ECL-2425K for double door exit device installations, where it provides the strike surface between the two leaves. For a single door opening into a frame, you want the strike Detex specifies for that single door device instead.
3) Will the ECL-2425K work on any brand of exit device, or only Detex?
Detex lists it as a genuine part for compatible Detex exit device product lines, and that is the only compatibility stated. Treat it as a Detex service part. On another manufacturer's device, match the strike the device maker specifies rather than substituting this one.
4) Do I have to modify the door or frame to install the ECL-2425K?
No cutting is intended. Detex builds the ECL-2425K as a drop-in replacement for the strike already on a compatible Detex double door setup, so servicing the opening means removing the old plate and mounting the new one in the existing prep.
5) Is this a commercial-duty strike or a residential one?
Commercial. Detex classes the ECL-2425K as commercial door hardware, built for the day-to-day cycle counts of offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government buildings.
6) We standardize Detex exit devices across our buildings. Is buying this strike as a stocked spare worthwhile?
For a facility running Detex exit devices on pairs of doors, yes. The strike is a wear item on the latching side of the opening, and the ECL-2425K is the factory replacement part, so keeping one or two in the MRO crib lets a maintenance tech restore a non-latching pair without pulling the whole device.
