Don-Jo DD-7 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size is the Don-Jo DD-7 door decal strip?
The DD-7 is a 24 inch long strip, 1-1/2 inches wide. That long, narrow shape is meant to run across door glass or a smooth door face as a marking band rather than sit as a square sign plate.
2) Will a black on clear decal show up on a dark or tinted glass door?
Probably not well. The DD-7 prints black on a clear plastic carrier, so the lettering reads against whatever is behind it. On light glass, a light door face, or a bright interior it reads sharply. Over dark tint, dark anodized aluminum, or a dark painted door, black on clear loses contrast. For those openings you want a decal with a light or contrasting colorway instead.
3) How many Don-Jo DD-7 decals come in a pack?
The DD-7 ships in a shelf pack of 10 strips, all in the black on clear finish. For a property manager marking a run of entries or stairwell doors, one pack covers ten openings with matching signage.
4) Is the DD-7 decal rated for commercial buildings or is it a residential product?
Commercial. Don-Jo lists the DD-7 as a commercial-grade product, and the intended settings are office buildings, schools, healthcare offices, retail storefronts, government buildings, warehouses, and multi-tenant residential common areas.
5) Do I need to drill or screw the DD-7 into the door?
No prep. The DD-7 is a decal, so it applies to the face of the door or the glass with no bore, no fasteners, and no damage to the leaf. That makes it usable on glass fronts and on fire rated doors where you cannot cut or drill the door.
6) Does the Don-Jo DD-7 come in any other finish or color?
One colorway only: black on clear. If you need a different contrast for your doors, you would be looking at a different Don-Jo decal model, not another option on the DD-7.
7) What is the DD-7 decal actually made of, and will it hold up on an interior door?
Plastic. It is a plastic decal strip, not paper or vinyl film, which is why Don-Jo rates it for everyday commercial interior door use where it needs to resist peeling and fading.
