2) Does the EL-205 strike work with a deadbolt as well as the latch?
No. The EL-205 is cut with a single latch hole, so it takes one bolt only, the latchbolt from a knob, lever, or cylindrical lockset. If the opening has a separate deadbolt above the lockset, that bolt needs its own strike or you need a two hole strike instead.
