Don-Jo TB-215 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a Don-Jo TB-215 tab cover a 161 lock prep or a cylindrical bore hole in a door?
No. The TB-215 measures 1-1/2 by 1 inch, and a standard 161 cylindrical prep is a 2-1/8 inch bore, so the tab is smaller than the hole and will not cover it. For a leftover 2-1/8 inch bore you need a full filler plate or a wrap around sized to the prep. The TB-215 is for small tab and filler work, not for closing off a lock bore.
2) How thick is the steel on the Don-Jo TB-215 tab?
13 gauge, stated as .095 inch, in steel. That is heavy enough to stay flat and hold its shape under repeated contact in a commercial opening rather than dishing the way a thin decorative plate does, which is why it holds up in schools, hospitals, and other high traffic buildings.
3) Does the Don-Jo TB-215 come as a single piece or in a bulk pack?
It ships as a shelf pack of 50 tabs, not as a single unit. If you keep a service van or a facility parts crib stocked, that quantity covers a run of openings at once. Order accordingly if you only need one or two for a single door.
4) Is the Don-Jo TB-215 tab a residential or commercial part?
Commercial. The TB-215 is a steel tab built for commercial door hardware work, the kind of small filler and trim component used in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, and multi-tenant residential properties. It is a bare steel component sold in bulk, so it is stocked as a working part rather than a finished decorative trim piece.
