That is exactly the configuration the RTS30 is packaged for: hinge hung, wood door, aluminum frame. It is a single acting unit, so it works on a door that swings one direction only. If your door is aluminum, or it is center hung or double acting, you need a different package within the RTS88 family.
2) How heavy a door will the Dorma RTS30 overhead concealed closer handle?
Up to 250 lbs. That covers most full-height wood entrance doors. For anything heavier you are outside what this closer is rated to control.
3) Do I have to order a left hand or right hand RTS30 closer?
No handing to specify. The RTS30 is non-handed, so one unit covers a left or right swinging door. Handing only matters on the door prep, not on the closer you order.
