Dormakaba 8812 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Dormakaba 8812 slide arm work with a center hung door closer setup?
No. The Dormakaba 8812 is an offset hung arm and channel, so it suits doors hung on offset pivots. A center hung installation uses a different arm arrangement, so this one is the wrong part for that opening.
2) Which door closers does the Dorma 8812 arm and channel go with?
The 8812 offset slide arm and channel is a replacement part for Dormakaba RTS Series closers. It is not a complete closer, just the arm and slide channel assembly, so you need the RTS closer body already in the floor or header.
3) Can I use the Dorma 8812 arm on a wood or hollow metal door, or is it aluminum only?
It covers all three. The 8812 offset slide arm and channel is listed for aluminum, steel, or wood doors, so a property manager standardizing RTS closers across mixed door materials can use the same arm on each.
4) Does the Dorma 8812 come with the closer, or do I need to order that separately?
The 8812 is the offset slide arm and channel only, catalogued as a closer arm replacement part. The RTS Series closer body, cement case, pivots, and any spindle or cover pieces are separate orders.
5) Is the Dormakaba 8812 arm rated for commercial traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The 8812 arm and channel is classed as commercial door hardware, which is consistent with the RTS Series closers it serves on entrance and interior openings.
