Dormakaba 34232-26D-01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Dormakaba 34232 lever kit, and what does it replace?
The Dormakaba 34232 is an outside lever trim kit, not a complete lockset. It supplies the exterior-facing lever assembly for compatible Sargent LFIC (large format interchangeable core) keyed lock platforms, so a maintenance team can restore outside trim function without pulling and replacing the whole lock. Model designation is 34232-26D-01.
2) Will the Dormakaba 34232 lever kit work with a small format interchangeable core?
No. The 34232 is built for Sargent Large Format Interchangeable Core systems. An SFIC core is a different size and keying platform, so if your doors are cored SFIC this is the wrong trim kit.
3) Is the Corbin Russwin 483F80 a direct equivalent to the Dormakaba 34232 lever kit?
No. Both are outside lever trim replacement parts rather than complete locksets, but they serve different platforms. The Dormakaba 34232 is the outside lever kit for Sargent LFIC cylinder systems and ships in Satin Chrome. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is an ML2000 Series outside lever and spindle, listed as Grade 1 with a corridor/dormitory function and specified for a 1-3/4 inch door. Because the lever and spindle interface is specific to each lock body, they are not interchangeable with one another.
4) What finish does the Dormakaba 34232 lever kit come in, and will it match other 26D hardware in my building?
Satin chrome only, listed as 626 (26D). That is the most common commercial finish, so it lines up visually with the satin chrome levers, closers and exit hardware already on most institutional openings. No other finish is offered on this kit.
5) Does the 34232 lever kit include a cylinder or core?
It is outside trim only. The kit restores the lever assembly on a Sargent LFIC-keyed lockset; you reuse or order the LFIC core separately. The point of the LFIC design is that cores swap out quickly for key control changes without special tools, so the trim and the core are handled as separate line items.
6) Can I use the Dormakaba 34232 on a cylindrical lock, or is it mortise only?
Either. The kit is described as restoring outside trim on compatible Sargent-keyed mortise or cylindrical locksets. What decides fit is that the lock is a Sargent LFIC platform the kit is built for, not whether the chassis is mortise or bored.
7) I need outside trim with a corridor/dormitory function - does the Dormakaba 34232 cover that?
The Dormakaba 34232 is a replacement outside lever kit that restores the exterior trim function on compatible Sargent LFIC keyed lock assemblies; the function is set by the lock body it mounts to, not by the trim kit. If you are specifying by function on a Corbin Russwin opening, the 483F80 is catalogued with a corridor/dormitory function in the ML2000 Series at Grade 1. For a Sargent-based door, order the 34232 to match the existing body and keep the LFIC core you already have.
8) For a 1-3/4 inch commercial door, which of these lever trim kits is sized for it?
The Corbin Russwin 483F80 outside lever and spindle is specified for a 1-3/4 inch thick door in the ML2000 Series. The Dormakaba 34232 is the outside lever kit for Sargent LFIC systems and is selected to match the Sargent lockset already in the opening rather than by stated door thickness, so confirm the existing lock body and spindle length before ordering it for a retrofit.
9) Is this a residential-duty lever or is it rated for commercial traffic?
Commercial. The 34232 is catalogued as a commercial-duty replacement part and is used in offices, schools, healthcare, government buildings, multi-tenant residential, warehouses and retail, where the trim takes constant cycling.
