Dormakaba 54737-000-10 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size screws come in the Dormakaba 54737 pack, and how many?
Ten screws per pack, each 8-32 thread by 3/8 inch long with a Torx drive head. The 8-32 is a machine thread, so these go into tapped holes in the hardware itself, not into wood. Model number is 54737-000-10.
2) Can I use these on a Corbin Russwin ML2000 mortise lock instead of Dormakaba hardware?
Buy the brand's own fastener. The 54737 is a Dormakaba factory-spec part for Dormakaba assemblies. For ML2000 work, Corbin Russwin lists its own 8-32 x 3/8 inch flat screw, part 425F86-8, plus escutcheon screw packs 429F31 for the N escutcheon and 433F77 for M and P escutcheons. Same thread size on the 425F86-8, but head style and finish are specified to that lock.
3) Can a Corbin Russwin 425F86-8 screw be used in place of the Dormakaba 54737 screw?
They share the same fastener size but belong to different hardware lines. The Dormakaba 54737-000-10 is an 8-32 x 3/8 inch Torx-drive screw supplied 10 to a pack for Dormakaba commercial door hardware assemblies. The Corbin Russwin 425F86-8 is also an 8-32 x 3/8 inch screw, but it is a flat screw built for the Corbin Russwin ML2000 mortise lock. If the assembly being serviced is Dormakaba, the 54737 is the factory-specification fastener; the 425F86-8 belongs with ML2000 hardware.
4) Do I need a Torx bit to install these Dormakaba screws?
Yes. The 54737 screws use a Torx drive, not Phillips or slotted, so a Torx driver bit is required. Torx resists cam-out under torque, which is why Dormakaba specs it on lock assemblies. Match the bit to the screw head before you head out to the opening.
5) Is the Dormakaba 54737 screw pack meant for commercial door hardware or residential locksets?
Commercial. These are factory-spec installation fasteners for Dormakaba commercial mechanical lock products and door hardware assemblies, used on office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail and municipal openings. They are not sold as a residential-grade fastener.
6) Is the Dormakaba 54737 a genuine OEM part or an aftermarket screw?
Genuine Dormakaba. The 54737-000-10 is a factory-specification parts and accessories item, so thread, length and drive match what came out of the assembly rather than a generic hardware-store 8-32.
7) Which fastener do I stock if I maintain both Dormakaba and Corbin Russwin mortise locks in one building?
Stock both lines. The Dormakaba 54737-000-10 covers Dormakaba commercial mechanical lock assemblies with 8-32 x 3/8 inch Torx-drive screws, ten to a pack. For Corbin Russwin ML2000 openings, the matching items are the 425F86-8 flat screw in the same 8-32 x 3/8 inch size, the 206F57-8 strike combo screw, and the escutcheon packs 429F31 and 433F77. The drive style and trim fit differ by line even where thread size matches.
8) What is the difference between a screw pack like the Dormakaba 54737 and a single strike screw such as the Corbin Russwin 206F57-8?
Quantity and intended location on the lock. The Dormakaba 54737-000-10 ships as a pack of 10 identical 8-32 x 3/8 inch Torx screws, which suits shops keeping a service stock of one fastener size. The Corbin Russwin 206F57-8 is a single strike combo screw for the ML2000, ordered when the strike fastener specifically is what needs replacing.
9) I am restocking the shop for Dormakaba service calls. Is a 10-pack enough per job?
Each 54737 pack gives you ten 8-32 x 3/8 inch Torx screws, which covers a single install or service visit with spares. Locksmiths and MRO buyers running multiple Dormakaba openings typically order several packs so a stripped or lost screw never holds up a door.
