Dormakaba 64712-000-01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly comes in the Dormakaba 64712-000-01 kit?
It's a two-part kit: a 1/4 inch spacer plus the mounting screws to go with it. Nothing else is needed from the spacer side of the install, you supply only the lock hardware it's spacing out.
2) What is a 1/4 inch spacer kit used for on a commercial lock install?
It takes up 1/4 inch of space between the hardware and the door face so the lock sits at the right depth and the mounting screws pull up square. Used when the mounting surface needs to be built out slightly for correct alignment on Dormakaba mechanical lock hardware.
3) Is the 64712-000-01 a genuine Dormakaba part or an aftermarket copy?
OEM. The 64712-000-01 is made to Dormakaba specification as a factory installation accessory, so the spacer thickness and screw sizing match the lock hardware it was made for.
4) Can I use a washer or shim stack instead of ordering the Dormakaba 64712 spacer kit?
Not a good substitute. The kit delivers one exact 1/4 inch spacer with screws matched to that added thickness, so fastener length and bearing surface are correct. Stacked washers change the screw engagement and leave the hardware bearing on points rather than a flat spacer.
5) Is this spacer kit rated for commercial door traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The 64712-000-01 is classed as commercial door hardware and is the spacer kit used on Dormakaba mechanical lock installs in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential buildings and government facilities.
6) I'm standardizing hardware across a building. Do I order one 64712-000-01 kit per door?
Yes, one kit per opening that needs the 1/4 inch build-out. The 64712-000-01 is sold as a single configuration, so ordering is just a quantity decision, there are no length, finish or handing choices to specify.
How fast can I get the Dormakaba 64712-000-01 delivered?
