Dormakaba 801279-05-01 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly comes in the Dormakaba 801279-05-01 kit?
It is a thumbturn and turnkey kit, so both the thumbturn and the turnkey components ship together as one rose and thumbturn assembly. That makes it a single order line when you are servicing the inside trim of a compatible Dormakaba mechanical lock rather than chasing the pieces separately.
2) Is the Dormakaba 801279-05-01 an OEM part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Dormakaba. It is catalogued by the manufacturer as model 801279-05-01 and supplied as a replacement part for Dormakaba mechanical lock assemblies, so finish and tolerances match the original trim you are replacing.
3) What finish is the 801279-05-01 thumbturn kit, and will it match older brass hardware in a building?
Antique Brass. It is the finish to pick when the rest of the openings run traditional or upscale brass trim; against a bright chrome or satin nickel suite it will read as a mismatch, so for those buildings order the equivalent kit in the finish already on the doors.
4) Can I use the 801279-05-01 to convert a keyed lock to a thumbturn, or is it strictly a repair part?
Treat it as a repair or refinish item for the thumbturn and turnkey rose on a Dormakaba mechanical lock that already takes that trim. It is sold as a replacement part, not as a function-change kit, so if you are changing the lock function you need the correct chassis and trim for that function instead.
5) Is this thumbturn kit rated for commercial door traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. Dormakaba lists the 801279-05-01 as a commercial part within its mechanical lock program, which is why it turns up on office, school, healthcare, retail, hotel and municipal openings rather than on house doors.
6) How many pieces or variations of 801279-05-01 are there? I need to order several for a multi-family property.
There is one configuration, 801279-05-01 in Antique Brass, so repeat orders of the same number give you identical trim across every door. No handing, size or finish choice to specify.
How fast can I get the Dormakaba 801279-05-01 delivered?
