Yes. The C500 key-in-lever chassis adjusts for doors from 1-3/8 to 1-13/16 inches thick, so a standard 1-3/4 inch commercial door is well inside the range, and so is the 1-3/8 inch interior door you find in older buildings. No separate chassis or spacer kit is needed to move between those thicknesses.

The C500 is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 2. For a facility spec that calls out Grade 1 cylindrical locks, this one will not satisfy the submittal. Grade 2 is the right call for apartments, hotel back-of-house, offices, churches, municipal buildings, retail and warehouse doors, which is where Dormakaba positions the series.

The C500 as configured here uses a D cylinder in the Schlage "C" keyway, so it can be keyed into an existing Schlage C system by a locksmith. Out of the box you choose keyed different or keyed alike at no charge. Keyed alike means every lock on the order operates on one key, which is what a property manager replacing several unit or common-area doors usually wants.

Nine functions are orderable: Classroom, Entrance, Exit/Communicating, Office/Entrance, Passage/Hall/Closet, Patio, Privacy/Bed/Bath, Single Dummy Trim and Storeroom. Classroom is locked or unlocked from the outside by key with the inside lever always free. Office/Entrance lets staff lock the outside lever from the inside without a key. Storeroom keeps the outside lever locked at all times and is the one for mechanical rooms and supply closets. Passage has no lock at all, and Single Dummy Trim is a lever on a rose with no chassis, for an inactive leaf.

The C500 ships with a 5001-1316 strike measuring 1-1/4 x 4-7/8 inches with a 1-3/16 inch lip and square corners. That is the common ANSI-adjacent square-corner strike prep, so if your frame is cut for a 1-1/4 x 4-7/8 strike it drops straight in. A frame prepped for a curved-lip or T-strike will need the existing strike reused or the frame reworked.

All C500 Series locks use throughbolts, and they are removable. Throughbolted mounting is what holds the two roses tight against a door that gets pulled hard, which is why it is specified on multi-family and institutional openings. It also means the install is a straight two-side assembly through a standard cylindrical prep, no special tooling.

Commercial. Dormakaba builds the C500 to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 2 and lists it for hotels, apartments, churches, municipal buildings, retail complexes, offices and warehouses. For a house or a low-traffic private door, it is more lock than you need; for a leased building's unit doors and common areas, it is the class of hardware a property manager should be buying.

Keying is selected at no cost on the order, either keyed different or keyed alike. Keyed alike across the order gives one key that runs every lock you buy on it, which is how you standardize a floor, a building's common doors, or a maintenance set. Keyed different gives each lock its own key, the normal choice for tenant unit doors. Both use the Schlage "C" keyway with a D cylinder.

Yes, Privacy/Bed/Bath is one of the C500 functions. It locks by push or turn from the inside with an emergency release outside instead of a keyed cylinder, so nobody is locked in. If the same bathroom door is a staff-only or shared facility that management needs keyed access to, order Storeroom or Classroom instead and keep it on the building key.

Dormakaba builds the C500 with cast auxiliary spring cages supporting the lever, which is the part that keeps a lever from sagging after heavy use. That matters most on apartment entry and corridor doors where the lever gets ridden all day. The chassis is the same high-performance cylindrical unit across all functions in the series.

Three finishes are orderable: 626 satin chrome, 619 satin nickel, and 613 oil rubbed bronze. If you are matching existing hardware in a building, 626 is the usual commercial default and pairs with most Grade 1 and Grade 2 exit devices and closers already in the field, while 613 is the darker bronze used on hospitality and residential-look openings.

Three lever designs are offered on the C500: LC, LG and LR. All three run on the same cylindrical chassis and the same function set, so you can put one lever style on the public-facing openings and another on back-of-house without changing how the locks key or install. Pick the style once per area, because the lever is the visible part a tenant notices.
