1) What reveal can the Dormakaba MOD-FHP closer arm handle on a parallel arm install?
The MOD-FHP arm covers a reveal range of 0 to 4 inches, so it works on flush frame conditions and on openings where the stop is set back up to 4 inches. If your reveal measures more than 4 inches, this arm will not reach and you need a different bracket configuration.
2) Does the MOD-FHP arm come with the parallel arm bracket or do I order that separately?
The PHB parallel arm bracket ships with the MOD-FHP arm, so the mounting bracket is included and you are not sourcing it as a second line item.
3) How does friction hold open work, and do I still need a separate hold-open device?
Friction hold open is built into the MOD-FHP arm itself. Friction in the arm holds the leaf wherever you swing it, so no stop-mounted hold-open arm or separate hold-open hardware is required. Bear in mind a friction hold open is a mechanical hold, not an electrified or fire-rated release, so it should not be used on an opening that requires the door to self-close on alarm.
