Dormakaba MOD PH 8900, 8600 Series Closer Hold Open Arm

The MOD PH arm handles a reveal of 0 to 1-1/2 inches. Reveal is the setback from the face of the door to the face of the frame stop where the closer shoe lands, so measure that on your opening before ordering. Past 1-1/2 inches this arm will not pull the door closed properly and you need a different arm or a drop plate to bring the mounting back into range.

Regular arm and top jamb mounting. The MOD PH is not a parallel arm assembly, so if your closer body sits on the push side of the door with the arm running parallel to the face, this is the wrong arm for that opening.

The stop on the MOD PH can be set at 85, 90, 100, or 110 degrees. Which one you pick usually comes down to what the door hits at full swing, so set it to the shallowest angle that still clears your traffic path and keeps the door leaf off the adjacent wall or equipment.

It is built for it. The arm carries a cushioned stop, which absorbs the shock of a door being thrown open rather than transferring it into the closer body and the frame. That is the reason to specify it on a heavily used opening or anywhere the door gets pushed hard, and it is a commercial grade part, not a residential one.

The MOD PH has an integral cushioned stop that keeps the door from swinging past the set point, so on many openings it takes the place of a wall or floor stop. That said, the arm stop is taking the load every time someone flings the door, so on abused openings a lot of shops still fit a wall bumper as backup. Either way the arm itself will hold the door open and stop it at 85, 90, 100, or 110 degrees.

Three: 689 anodized aluminum, 693 black, and 695 dark duranodic bronze. If you are matching a run of existing closers in a building, 689 is the common aluminum look and 695 is what pairs with bronze storefront. Pick the finish that matches the closer body already on the door, since a replacement arm in the wrong finish is obvious from across the lobby.
