The PowerLED PLD Series (PLD7, PLD9 and PLD10) are universal input (120-277V) emergency LED battery packs that work with an AC LED driver to allow an LED lighting load to be used in both normal and emergency operation. UL924, NFPA 101, NFPA 70, UL 1310 and CEC Title 20 Compliant.
Application
- The Dual-Lite PLD10/10M is a universal input (120–277V) emergency LED battery pack that works with an AC LED driver to allow an LED lighting load to be used in both normal and emergency operation.
- When normal AC power is lost, the PLD10/10M series operates to provide 10 or 9 watts of constant emergency power at a rated output voltage of 20–56V DC.
- The constant power design provides backup for:
- Minimum of 90 minutes at 10 watts output
- Minimum of 120 minutes at 9 watts output
- With no loss of emergency lumen output
- When used with emergency-only LED fixtures, no AC driver is needed.
- UL 924 Listing allows for both field and factory installations of suitable LED loads including:
- LED luminaires
- DC voltage-driven LED replacements for fluorescent lamps
- Other compatible devices
Construction
- The Dual-Lite PLD10/10M series features a compact case constructed of durable, galvanized steel.
- The unit includes:
- A solid-state charger with automatic transfer circuit
- A 2-wire test switch
- An LED charging indicator light
- A high-temperature, Nickel-Cadmium battery
Installation
- The PLD10/10M emergency battery pack does not affect normal LED fixture operation and may be used with either switched or unswitched fixtures.
- If a switched fixture is used, an unswitched hot lead must be connected to the emergency ballast.
- The emergency battery packs must be fed from the same branch circuit as the AC LED driver.
- Due to its steel construction, the PLD10/10M is designed to be mounted outside the LED fixture.
- Suitable for use in damp locations where the ambient temperature is between 0°C (32°F) and 55°C (131°F).
- Not suitable for installation in heated air outlet fixtures or wet/hazardous location fixtures.
Illumination
- The PLD10/10M will operate an LED load rated at:
- 10 watts or greater for a minimum of 90 minutes
- 9 watts or greater for a minimum of 120 minutes
- Lumen output can be calculated using the LED load’s efficacy (lm/W) from:
- Design Lights Consortium
- Energy Star Certified Product Finder
- Luminaire manufacturer’s published specification sheets
- Multiply the efficacy by the PLD10/10M output power (10W or 9W) to calculate lumen output.
Compliances
- UL 924 Recognized and Damp Location Listed for field installation
- UL 1310 Certified (Class 2 output)
- CSA C22.2 No. 141 (Canadian Life Safety Standard, PLD10M only)
- NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
- NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code)
- CEC Title 20 Compliant (Battery Charger Efficiency Standard)
Warranty
- 5-Year Full Warranty
