1) Can the WattStopper DT-305 occupancy sensor run on line voltage, or does it need a low-voltage power pack?
The DT-305 is a 24VDC sensor. It has no line-voltage switching built in, so it has to be fed from a low-voltage source, typically a power pack or the 24VDC bus of a building automation system, and the load is switched at that device rather than at the sensor. If you are replacing a self-contained line-voltage wall or ceiling sensor, budget for that power pack in the same order.
2) Where does the DT-305 mount, and will one cover a whole room?
It is a center-mount ceiling sensor with 360 degree coverage, so it is meant to go in the middle of the space and look out in all directions rather than in a corner or on a wall. That works for open offices, classrooms, and similar square or near-square rooms. For an L-shaped room, a corridor, or a space broken up by tall partitions or shelving, a single center-mount 360 unit will leave areas out of view and you are better off with additional sensors or a corridor-pattern head.

Dual technology means the sensor uses two detection methods together, passive infrared plus ultrasonic. Ultrasonic picks up minor motion and works around obstructions. The DT-305 adds a patented ultrasonic diffusion design that spreads the ultrasonic coverage over a wider area to cut blind spots. Use dual tech where false-off complaints matter, such as private offices, restrooms, and classrooms; PIR-only is fine for a warehouse aisle or storage room where movement is obvious.
4) Can a DT-305 sensor control HVAC or feed a BAS as well as lighting?
Yes, through the isolated relay option.
