1) Will B-Line 4D21 strut fit standard 1-5/8 inch strut fittings and nuts?
No. The 4Dimension 4D21 profile measures 2.12 inches wide by 1.06 inches high, so it is not the 1-5/8 inch square strut section that standard channel nuts and fittings are cut for. Order 4Dimension series hardware sized to the 4D profile rather than assuming your existing 1-5/8 inch stock of nuts, clamps and angle fittings will thread in.
2) Is the HDG in 4D21-120HDG hot dip galvanized, and can I use it outdoors?
HDG is the hot dip galvanized finish on this Eaton B-Line 4Dimension channel. Hot dip coating is applied after fabrication, which covers the cut edges and the inside of the channel, so it is the finish normally specified for exterior runs, rooftops, parking structures and wash-down areas rather than a plain pre-galvanized stick. Field cuts still need cold galvanizing compound on the bare end.
3) Is B-Line 4D21 a shallow or deep strut channel?
At 1.06 inches high it is a shallow profile, about half the depth of a full-height channel. That keeps the assembly tight to the deck or wall where ceiling space is limited, and it suits lighter conduit racks and equipment mounting rather than heavy pipe trapeze work, where a deeper section would normally be specified.
4) Does the 4D21-120HDG strut channel come with nuts, bolts or mounting hardware?
