B-LINE 4D2004PAAL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the B-Line 4D2004PAAL pipe clamp come with the hardware to mount it, or do I need to order screws separately?
It ships preassembled with a combination recess hex screw included, so the clamp and its fastener come together. You still need the strut channel and, depending on your mounting, a channel nut to receive the screw.
2) Can I use the 4D2004PAAL to hang conduit directly off a strut channel run?
Yes, that is what it is for. The 4Dimension clamp is a strut-mounted pipe clamp: it fastens to the channel with the supplied hex screw and holds the conduit or pipe against the strut face, so you do not need a separate hanger rod or beam clamp for the run.
3) What material is the 4D2004PAAL strut pipe clamp made of, and will it hold up outdoors or near other metals?
Aluminum. That keeps the weight down (.19 lb per clamp) and avoids rust, and it is the usual pick when you want a non-ferrous support. Keep in mind aluminum against dissimilar metals in a wet location can set up galvanic corrosion, so pair it with compatible strut and fasteners.
4) What are the dimensions of the B-Line 4D2004PAAL clamp?
The clamp measures 2.79 in length/depth, 1.25 in width, and .103 in height (that .103 figure is the material thickness of the strap). Use the 2.79 and 1.25 numbers when you are checking clearance between adjacent runs on a strut.
5) What does "universal" mean on the B-Line 4Dimension pipe clamp, and can I use one size for different conduit types?
Universal here means the clamp is built to take more than one pipe or conduit type at a given trade size, so the same part covers EMT, rigid, and pipe in that range instead of you stocking a separate clamp for each. It is the 4Dimension strut clamp line from Eaton B-Line, part 4D2004PAAL.
6) Is the 4D2004PAAL clamp UL listed or carry a certification I can put on a submittal?
No certification applies to this clamp, so do not submit it as a listed or rated component. It is a mechanical support piece in Eaton B-Line's 4Dimension strut clamp line, and the spec points you can cite are material, dimensions, and the included preassembled hex screw.
