The DK30A drop shield kit is sized for enclosures 30 inches wide, and the part itself measures 30 inches across. It bolts on, so the enclosure needs the matching mounting holes for a 30 inch wide cabinet. If your enclosure is a different width, you need the drip shield sized to that width instead.

The DK30A is rated NEMA 12 itself, which is the dust and dripping-water rating, and it is UL Listed. It is built to shed water and dust away from the enclosure top, so it works with a NEMA 12 cabinet rather than downgrading it. NEMA 12 is not a washdown or outdoor rating, so if the cabinet sees hose-down or direct weather you are in different territory.

The DK30A is listed at .75 inch in height and .75 inch in depth, so it is a shallow profile addition, not a deep canopy. Plan that three quarters of an inch into your headroom if the cabinet sits tight under conduit, cable tray, or a ceiling.

A shield keeps falling water and dirt off the top of the cabinet and away from the door seam, so runoff does not sit on the gasket or track into the door line each time it is opened. That protects the gasket over time and is why plants add one to NEMA 12 cabinets under pipework or sprinklers. The DK30A does that job on 30 inch wide wall-mount enclosures.
