B-LINE BCHID-BL32 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I add the B-Line color ID clip after the J-hooks are already mounted in the ceiling?
Yes. The BCHID-BL32 snaps onto the J-hook after the hook is installed, so you can go back through a finished pathway and color code it without pulling hooks off the structure or disturbing the cable already in the saddle.
2) What is the blue B-Line J-hook ID clip actually for?
It is a color coded marker for cable pathways. Blue identifies one class of content, so an installer or the next tech in the ceiling can tell at a glance which run is which and avoid crossing voice, data, security or AV cable into the wrong pathway. It carries no load itself, the J-hook does that.
3) Is the blue B-Line BCHID-BL32 the right part number for a 2 inch hook, and what do I order for other hook sizes?
For a 2 inch hook in blue, BCHID-BL32 is the part. The BCHID family is built around hook size and color, so other sizes and colors carry their own suffix. Specify the hook size first, then the color you have assigned to that cable type.
4) How much room does the B-Line 2 inch J-hook ID clip take up on the hook?
It measures 2.06 by 2.38 by 1.62 inches and weighs about .01 lb. It's small enough that it adds no meaningful weight to the support, but check the 2.38 inch dimension against any tight clearance between your hook and adjacent trapeze or duct.
5) Do I need one B-Line ID clip per J-hook, or just at intervals?
One clip snaps to one hook, so quantity is your call on spacing. Most spec writers tag at pathway entries, branch points and at regular intervals down a long run rather than every hook. Order the count to match the marking interval on your drawing, and keep the color scheme consistent building wide so blue means the same content in every ceiling.
