B-LINE AZDM-6K – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the B-Line AZDM-6K anchor UL Listed?
Yes, the AZDM-6K self-drilling wallboard anchor is UL Listed, which is what a facilities or institutional buyer usually needs to see before it goes into an electrical scope of work.
2) Do I need to drill a pilot hole before setting the AZDM-6K anchor?
No pilot hole is required. The AZDM-6K is a self-drilling wallboard anchor, so the point cuts its own hole as you drive it into the gypsum board, then the machine screw goes in behind it. That is the main reason electricians and maintenance crews pick this style over a toggle for light drywall-only mounting.
3) Can I use the AZDM-6K anchor in concrete or masonry instead of drywall?
No. The AZDM-6K is a wallboard anchor, intended for gypsum board only. Concrete, block, or brick needs a masonry-rated anchor such as a sleeve, wedge, or screw anchor. Driving a self-drilling drywall anchor into masonry will simply deform the steel point.
4) What is the Eaton B-Line AZDM-6K wallboard anchor made of?
Steel. The AZDM-6K is a self-drilling wallboard anchor built for drywall mounting where a plastic anchor would strip out, and the steel body lets it be driven straight into board without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
5) What part number do I order for the B-Line self-drilling drywall anchor, and what does the package weigh?
Order it by Eaton B-Line model AZDM-6K. The packaged item weighs .948 lb and measures 6 in diameter by 1 in high, which is consistent with a bulk carton of anchors rather than a single piece.
