1) Can I install this anchor through the fixture, or do I have to drill the hole first and then set the bracket?
Through-the-fixture installation is exactly what this one is built for. The B-Line AWA-37-225 can be driven through the mounting hole in the strut bracket, box, or hanger and into the hole drilled through it into the concrete, so you do not have to lay out holes separately and reposition the fixture.
2) Is the B-Line AWA-37-225 anchor UL Listed for electrical support work?
It is UL Listed. That matters on inspected electrical jobs where conduit racks, strut, cable tray, and luminaire supports anchored to concrete have to be made off with listed components.
3) Can I use this wedge anchor in hollow block or drywall?
No. A wedge anchor only works in solid base material, typically poured concrete, because it sets by a clip expanding against the sides of the drilled hole. In hollow CMU, brick, or any wall board you need a sleeve anchor, a toggle, or a screw anchor rated for hollow base material. The AWA-37-225 is a wedge type, so keep it in solid concrete.
4) Is a zinc plated carbon steel wedge anchor OK outdoors or in a wet area?
The AWA-37-225 is zinc plated carbon steel, which is a dry interior finish. Zinc plating is a light sacrificial coating and it will corrode in standing moisture, wash-down areas, coastal exposure, or direct weather. For a parking deck, a pool room, or an exterior wall, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless wedge anchor instead.
