The Grip Strut eight diamond plank is listed as OSHA compliant, and the diamond-pierced surface is intended to give safe, sturdy footing where non-slip walking surface is required, so it is the usual choice for mechanical platforms, catwalks, stair treads and equipment access decks.

Plain is the finish on this one, meaning uncoated 14 gauge steel with no galvanizing or paint. That is fine for dry interior service, but for wet, washdown or exterior locations you want a hot dip galvanized or pre-galvanized Grip Strut plank instead, or the bare steel will rust at the pierced edges.

Eight diamond describes how many rows of pierced diamond openings run across the width of the plank. On this one, eight rows fill the 18.75 inch width. More diamonds across means a wider walking surface per piece, so you need fewer planks side by side to deck out a platform than you would with a two or three diamond tread.

No hardware is included with part 82014 10 BL. You get the plank itself. Plan on ordering hold down clips, saddle clips or self drilling fasteners separately to secure the 2 inch channel legs to your supporting steel.

14 gauge is the standard weight for Grip Strut plank used on personnel walkways and platforms, and the 2 inch formed channel on each side is what carries the load between supports rather than the sheet thickness alone. Span capacity depends on how far apart your support members sit, so lay out your framing to the span table for the load you are carrying. For heavier point loads or forklift traffic, plank is the wrong product and you want bar grating.
