It is listed as OSHA compliant. The eight diamond perforated surface is what does the work, giving non-slip footing in oil, water, or ice conditions where a smooth plate would be a hazard.

The plank is steel with a mill-galvanized finish, which is the zinc coating applied to the coil before forming. That handles typical industrial and covered outdoor exposure. Forming and cutting leaves the sheared edges bare steel, so for continuous saltwater or harsh chemical exposure you would want a hot-dip galvanized after fabrication or stainless plank instead.

The 3 inch dimension is the depth of the formed side channel, and that depth is what carries load between supports. A deeper channel spans farther between beams; a shallower one needs supports closer together. Pick the 3 inch section when your support spacing is wide, and check the plank depth against your framing layout before you set the steel.

What ships is the plank itself, 12 gauge steel in mill-galvanized finish. Saddle clips, hold-down fasteners and any support framing are ordered separately to suit the beam or angle you are fastening to.

Catwalks, mezzanine walkways, stair treads, platforms around mechanical and electrical equipment, and any elevated access route where footing has to stay secure when the surface is wet or oily. The perforated diamond openings also let water, debris and light pass through rather than pooling on the surface.
