The Grip Strut six diamond plank is listed as OSHA compliant. The diamond-pattern openings give non-slip footing in the conditions where crews slip most: oil, water, ice and mud on an elevated walk or platform.

The plank is 3 inches deep, matching the 3 inch channel size. Add that 3 inches to the top of your supporting steel to get finished walking surface elevation, and check your handrail and headroom off that number.

Plain is the bare steel finish, so it carries no factory coating for corrosion. It's fine indoors and in dry mechanical spaces as supplied. For exterior, washdown or chemical exposure, specify a galvanized or coated version of the plank instead, or plan to field coat it.

It's 10 gauge steel, the heavier of the common Grip Strut gauges. Gauge drives how far the plank can span between supports and how it holds up under rolling loads and repeated foot traffic, so 10 gauge is what gets specified for maintenance access and industrial walkways rather than light-duty occasional access.

Six diamond refers to the number of diamond rows across the walking surface, which is what gives this plank its 27.75 inch width. Narrower Grip Strut sections with fewer diamond rows are used for single-board catwalks, stair treads and ladder platforms. Go with the six diamond plank when you need a full-width walking surface in one piece instead of ganging several narrow channels.

The plank ships as the walking surface only, model 63010 10 BL. Support steel, saddle clips, hold-down clamps and fasteners are ordered separately and sized to your framing. Confirm your support spacing before you order, since the plank has to bear on structure at both ends of the 120 inch run.
