Each plank runs 144 inches long, 7 inches wide, with a 2 inch channel height. That is a full 12 foot span in one piece, so a walkway, catwalk or platform run up to 12 feet needs no intermediate splice. For wider walking surfaces, planks are laid side by side, 7 inches of tread width each.

The Grip Strut three diamond plank is listed as OSHA compliant, and the diamond openings give the non-slip footing that requirement is aimed at. That is the reason it gets specified for maintenance platforms, mezzanine walkways, stair treads and equipment access in industrial and institutional facilities.

This plank is aluminum, 12 gauge at .100 inch material thickness. Aluminum is the choice where you want corrosion resistance without paint or galvanizing, and where crews have to carry and set planks by hand, water treatment decks, coastal or chemical plants, rooftop equipment access. Steel or galvanized steel planks are the alternative when the load or abuse level is higher and weight is not a concern.

Three diamond refers to the number of diamond tread rows across the plank width, which here is 7 inches. More diamonds means a wider plank, so you match the diamond count to the walking width you need rather than to any strength rating. For a standard single-file walkway or a stair tread application, the 7 inch three diamond section is the common pick; wider platforms are built by ganging planks side by side or stepping up to a four or five diamond section.

The 32010 12 AL is supplied as the plank itself. Hold down clips, saddle clips, bolts and any support framing or stringers are separate items, so budget those into the order along with the plank count for your run.
