A vertical inside bend turns a cable tray run upward relative to the cable, with the tray rails curving on the inside of the change in direction. This Eaton B-Line 4A-30-30VI36 fitting makes a 30 degree vertical turn on a 36 inch radius, so cable coming through it is bent over a generous sweep rather than a sharp corner. Use a vertical outside bend instead when the run turns the other way, with the cables on the outside of the curve.

The 4A-30-30VI36 sweeps on a 36 inch radius, which is the largest of the common tray fitting radii and is the one specified when the cable manufacturer calls for a large minimum bending radius, typical of medium voltage and large diameter power cable. Check the cable's stated minimum bend radius against 36 inches; if a smaller radius is acceptable, a 12 or 24 inch radius fitting will save run length.

Plan for 25.692 inches of run length for the fitting itself. That is the dimension to subtract when you cut or order the adjoining straight sections, and it is driven by the 36 inch radius. A tighter radius fitting would consume less run but bend the cable harder.
