A vertical inside bend carries the tray run up or down a change in elevation while the fitting curves toward the inside of the angle, so the cable stays on the tray bottom through the transition. Eaton B-Line part 4A-18-45VI36 makes that turn at 45 degrees on a 36 inch radius. The generous radius is what keeps large power or fiber cable inside its bend limit through the elevation change. If your run turns up and over an obstruction rather than down under it, you want the matching outside bend instead.

Allow for a fitting that measures 33.539 inches along its length, so plan roughly three feet of clear space in the run before the straight section picks up again. On a tight ceiling or in a congested rack room, that is the number to check against the obstruction you are stepping over, since a 36 inch radius fitting will not compress.

Aluminum. That keeps it light for overhead work and suits damp, coastal or corrosive-atmosphere installs better than plain painted steel. It also means you should bond and ground the tray run per your electrical spec and keep dissimilar-metal contact in mind where it lands on steel supports.

Order Eaton B-Line 4A-18-45VI36. The number reads out the build: 4 inch aluminum rail, 18 inch width, 45 degree vertical inside, 36 inch radius. Splice plates and hardware to join it to the adjoining straight sections are ordered separately.

7.62 pounds. One electrician can handle it on a lift, and it adds very little to the dead load your trapeze or threaded-rod supports carry. Weight of the cable fill, not the fitting, drives the support spacing.
