B-LINE 6A-12-VTU12 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the B-Line 6A-12-VTU12 cable tray fitting UL classified?
Yes, it carries a UL Classified listing. For an electrical inspector on a commercial or institutional job, that is the mark to point at when the tray is being used as an equipment grounding conductor path or is on a listed-system spec.
2) Is this cable tray tee aluminum or steel, and how does that affect where I can install it?
Aluminum. It is the lighter option for overhead runs and holds up better than bare steel in damp or corrosive areas such as plants, tunnels, and parking structures. Keep aluminum tray to aluminum fittings through the run so you are not mixing dissimilar metals at splice points.
3) How much does the B-Line 6A-12-VTU12 vertical tee weigh for overhead rigging?
14.23 lb. Light enough for one person to set on trapeze hangers, but the load still transfers into the support steel at the fitting, so plan a hanger on each leg of the tee rather than cantilevering it off the straight run.
4) What is the overall length of this B-Line vertical tee up fitting?
15 inches along the run. Take that off your straight-section takeoff when you lay out the run, since the tee consumes that dimension between the cut ends of the tray on either side.
