B-LINE 6A-12-30-HT12 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What tray widths does the B-Line 6A-12-30-HT12 horizontal tee connect?
The 6A-12-30-HT12 is a Series 2-5 horizontal expanding tee built for 12 inch and 30 inch tray widths. The run side of the fitting works with 12 inch wide tray, and the branch expands out to 30 inch, so it is the fitting to use where a narrow run feeds into a wider tray rather than a straight equal-width tee.
2) How much space do I need to allow in the ceiling for this expanding tee?
Plan on 21 inches of length and 12 inches of width for the fitting body, with a 6 inch side rail height. The 12 inch turning radius drives that 21 inch dimension, so make sure the branch run has clear space before you set the trapeze hangers.
3) Is the B-Line 6A-12-30-HT12 tee aluminum or steel?
Aluminum. That keeps the weight down at 16.639 lb for a fitting this size, which matters when you are holding it overhead on a lift, and it suits aluminum tray runs where you do not want dissimilar metals at the splice. For galvanized steel tray systems, use a steel fitting instead.
4) Does this cable tray tee carry any agency certification for a commercial or institutional job?
The fitting is CSA certified, which is the listing most Canadian jurisdictions and many specs on institutional work call for on cable tray fittings.
5) What is the exact part number to order for a 12 inch to 30 inch horizontal expanding tee in 6 inch aluminum tray?
Order Eaton B-Line part number 6A-12-30-HT12. The number breaks down as 6 inch rail height, aluminum, 12 inch by 30 inch tray widths, horizontal tee, 12 inch radius.
6) Do splice plates and hardware come with the B-Line 6A-12-30-HT12 tee?
The order covers the expanding tee fitting itself. Splice plates, bolts, and hanger hardware are separate line items on Eaton B-Line cable tray systems, so add the splice connections for all three tray openings and any supports the fitting needs when you build the order.
