The B-Line 6A-36-VTU36 is a vertical tee up fitting, meaning it branches a cable tray run upward off a straight horizontal run. The branch rises on a 36 inch radius, which keeps cable bends gentle enough to protect conductor jackets. Use it where a tray run has to feed a second level or drop into equipment above the main run, rather than where the tray simply changes direction (that is an elbow).

Allow 39 inches of run length for the fitting, with the branch turning on a 36 inch radius. That radius is the largest of the common tray fitting radii, so it eats real estate above the run; if you are tight to a ceiling or a duct, a shorter radius fitting in the same 36 inch width is the way to go.

Aluminum. That gives it a much lighter installed weight than steel tray of the same size and it holds up in damp and mildly corrosive environments without paint or galvanizing. Keep in mind aluminum tray needs a separate bonding jumper across fittings where the tray is used as an equipment grounding path, per your engineer's grounding detail.

It carries CSA certification, so it is acceptable for installations built to the Canadian Electrical Code as well as typical US commercial work. Specify the model number 6A-36-VTU36 on the submittal and the certification travels with it.

The 6A-36-VTU36 is the fitting on its own. Splice plates, bolts, and the hanger or trapeze support steel are ordered separately, and you need a splice connection at each of the three openings where the tee meets straight tray. Order those at the same time so the crew is not waiting on hardware mid-run.

Use a vertical tee up when the horizontal run continues straight through and you also need a branch heading upward. If the run simply turns up and does not continue, a vertical elbow is the correct fitting and it takes less room. This one is the tee, in 36 inch width with a 36 inch radius branch.

48.72 lb for the fitting itself. That is a two-man lift overhead, and it is concentrated load at the branch point, so plan a hanger or trapeze close to each end of the fitting rather than relying on the adjacent straight sections to carry it.
