B-LINE SB2129SD09YZ – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the B-Line SB2129SD09YZ side drop-out used for in a cable runway?
It is a side drop-out fitting for Eaton B-Line series cable runway. It mounts to the side stringer of a runway and gives cable a radiused path off the side of the run and down to a rack, cabinet, or wall, so conductors leave the runway without a sharp bend over the stringer edge. It is part of the runway accessory system, not a length of runway itself.
2) Is the B-Line SB2129SD09YZ drop-out UL Listed?
Yes, the SB2129SD09YZ carries a UL Listing. That is the line an institutional or government spec writer usually wants on runway hardware feeding a telecom or equipment room, and it is what the submittal reviewer looks for.
3) What are the dimensions and weight of the SB2129SD09YZ drop-out?
The drop-out measures 4 x 4 x 7.75 inches (height, length/depth, width) and weighs 1.8 lb. Those numbers matter when you are laying out clearance behind a rack or above a cabinet, since the fitting projects off the side of the runway stringer.
4) What material and finish is the B-Line SB2129SD09YZ, and is it suitable for a data center or telecom room?
It is ASTM A36 steel with a yellow zinc finish. A36 is a structural carbon steel, and the yellow zinc plating is a protective coating for dry indoor environments, which is what telecom rooms, equipment rooms, and data center white space are. For wet, corrosive, or outdoor runs you would want a hot-dip galvanized or stainless fitting instead.
5) Does the SB2129SD09YZ come with mounting hardware for the runway?
The item is the side drop-out fitting itself, ordered as the single model SB2129SD09YZ. Plan on sourcing the runway sections, stringer splice or attachment hardware, and any grounding components separately as part of the same B-Line series runway system.
6) I need to order the exact Eaton part number for a side drop-out on B-Line runway. What is it?
The manufacturer part number is SB2129SD09YZ, an Eaton B-Line series side drop-out in yellow zinc. The YZ at the end of the designation corresponds to the yellow zinc finish, so if your submittal calls for a different finish on the rest of the runway, the suffix is the part of the number to check.
