B-LINE SB2129U24YZ – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does a B-Line SB2129U24YZ runway dropout actually do on a cable runway?
It gives cable a curved exit off the runway. The SB2129U24YZ is a steel drop-out that mounts at the point where cable leaves the tray and drops down to a rack or cabinet, providing a radius so the cable bends instead of breaking over a sharp runway edge. It is sized for 24 inch runway.
2) Do I need to order mounting hardware separately for this dropout kit?
No. The kit ships with self-drilling screws, so you fasten it directly to the runway stringer without drilling or tapping first and without sourcing separate fasteners.
3) Is the B-Line SB2129U24YZ dropout UL Listed for a data center or telecom room install?
Yes, the SB2129U24YZ carries a UL Listing. That is the piece most spec reviewers and inspectors want confirmed on runway accessories in a telecom or data room.
4) What steel and finish is this runway dropout made from, and is it suitable for an indoor equipment room?
18 gauge ASTM A569 steel with a yellow zinc finish. Yellow zinc is a plated indoor finish, so it suits equipment rooms, data centers and other conditioned interior spaces. For exterior or wet locations you want a hot dip galvanized or stainless runway accessory instead.
5) What is the exact part number to order this 24 inch yellow zinc dropout?
Order Eaton B-Line part SB2129U24YZ. The U24 designates the 24 inch runway width and the YZ suffix is the yellow zinc finish, so a different width or a plain finish will carry a different suffix.
6) How heavy is the SB2129U24YZ, and can one person install it overhead?
It weighs 3.7 lb. That is a one-hand piece on a ladder, and with the self-drilling screws supplied a single installer can set it at the runway edge without a second person holding the part.
