B-LINE SB212924FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does a B-Line SB212924FB runway dropout actually do in a cable runway?
It gives cable a smooth radius where it leaves the runway and drops down to a rack or cabinet, so the bend is supported instead of the jacket riding over a bare runway stringer or cross member. It's a steel drop-out that mounts to the runway and carries the cable over the curve.
2) How wide is the SB212924FB dropout, and will it suit a 24 inch wide runway?
The dropout measures 22 inches across, with 4 inch height and 4 inch depth figures. That 22 inch dimension is what you need to match against the inside width of your runway run before ordering, since the part has to sit between the stringers.
3) Do I need to buy fasteners separately to install this B-Line dropout?
No extra hardware to source. Self-drilling screws ship with the dropout kit, so it mounts to the runway stringer without pre-drilling. You'll still need your own driver and, in most installs, bonding per your site's grounding practice.
4) What is the SB212924FB made of, and will the black finish match my existing black runway?
It's 18 gauge ASTM A569 steel with a flat black powder coat, which is the same finish family used on black cable runway and ladder rack, so it blends into an existing black runway run rather than standing out like a plain galvanized part.
5) Is the B-Line runway dropout UL Listed for a data center or telecom room install?
UL Listed, which is what most facility and institutional specs call for on runway and cable support components in equipment rooms.
6) How much does the SB212924FB weigh, and can one person hang it?
3.7 pounds. That's a one-person overhead install on a ladder, though on a long runway run you'll want a second set of hands to hold it square while you drive the screws.
