SH is the slotted-hole pattern, so the back of the channel comes pre-punched along its length instead of solid. That lets you bolt the strut flat to studs, joists, walls or deck without field drilling, and the slots give you side-to-side adjustment when your anchor points do not land exactly where you want the strut. If you want an unpunched back for a cleaner look or maximum strength, order the solid-back version of B22 instead.

B22 is the double-height section: two 1-5/8 channels welded back to back, giving a 1.62 in wide by 1.62 in deep profile with an open slot on both faces. That means you can mount nuts and fittings on either side, which is what you want for trapeze hangers, free-standing racks and posts where loads come from two directions. If you only need to attach from one face, a single-slot 1-5/8 channel is the lighter, cheaper pick.

Order Eaton B-Line part number B22SH-240AL. Read the code straight through: B22 section, SH slotted hole pattern, 240 in length, AL for aluminum. If a drawing calls for the same section in a different length or material, only that tail of the number changes, so the section and hole pattern stay B22SH.
