The B196-24ZN is rated for a 450 lb uniform load. That is a uniform rating across the bracket, not a point load at the end of the 24 inch arm, so keep pipe and trapeze hangers distributed and stay within it once you add the weight of the conduit, water, or insulation being supported.

Electro-plated steel is a dry-location and indoor-protected finish. In a parking garage, rooftop, cooling tower deck, or anywhere with washdown or salt exposure, it will corrode. For those runs specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless strut fitting instead.

It measures 24 inches long, 5.37 inches high and 1.62 inches wide, and weighs 5.1 lbs. The 1.62 inch width is the usual strut channel profile width, so it sits in line with standard 1-5/8 inch strut runs.

It is a strut fitting that cantilevers off a wall- or column-mounted channel to pick up a pipe, conduit, or duct hanger out away from the structure. The clevis end takes a hanger rod or clevis hanger, so it is the piece you use when the load cannot sit directly on the wall. If you only need to clamp pipe flat against the strut, a pipe clamp or strut strap does that job with far less projection than this 24 inch arm.
